BYOC · by SailChecker

Eight diaries aligned. One week. One boat you'd actually want to be on.

Hold a berth for €100 — we don't book a boat until enough cabins do.

WHAT YOU GET

The boat. The skipper. The crew.

Most cabin charters break in the same three places. We solve each one before the trip lists — not after the complaint comes in.

  • PROFESSIONAL FLEETS

Pick the modern boat. Skip the boat-hunt.

Every BYOC yacht is ≤4 years old, drawn from operators we've worked with for a decade. The hull you'd choose at a charter show — without the charter show.

  • CURATED SKIPPERS

Bring your ticket. Or borrow ours.

Can you handle the boat? Sail your own week. Can't? Fine — we hire a vetted skipper from our pool (RYA Day Skipper or equivalent, operator-dependent). The skipper's fee comes out of trip economics, not your pocket. The cabin still costs what it costs.

  • CURATED CREW

Fill the empty cabins on your terms.

A whole boat needs 6–8 people. Yours rarely will. So we draft the rest from the BYOC cohort — filtered by the vibe you set, screened before they reach you. You meet your crew before they board, never on the dock.

WHY BYOC

Where the category falls short. Where we don't.

Per-cabin sailing should be the best week of your year. Mostly it isn't — the boat is older than the brochure, the skipper's English wears thin by Wednesday, the cabin next door turned out to be a stag do. BYOC is built so none of that is structurally possible.

Other platforms BYOC
FLEET "Thousands of unique experiences" — fleet ages vary widely, no published floor. Yachts ≤4 years old. Sourced from SailChecker's 12-year operator network. Modern hulls only.
SKIPPER No published qualification standard. Skipper variability is the most common complaint thread on competitor Trustpilot. Vetted skipper pool, operator-dependent floor. RYA Day Skipper is the common starting point; owner-skippers often have nothing formal — operators decide what's acceptable. English-speaking, hired out of trip economics.
CREW You find out who you're sailing with after you book. Vibe mismatch surfaces on day one. Constraint filters up front. No-stag · naturist-friendly · quiet-evenings · LGBTQIA+ · first-timers-welcome. The wrong crew never applies.
PRICING Cabin price is the platform's revenue. So it carries the platform's overhead. We earn boat commission from operators. Cabin price doesn't load our overhead. Structural undercut, not a flash sale.
REFUND "30-day flexible cancellation" — trips get listed and converted regardless of whether the boat actually fills. €100 holds your berth, refundable until viability. Boat assigned only when enough cabins reserve. Auto-refund by D-90 if not.
OVERCROWDING Documented cases of 8 people sold into a 6-berth boat to push viability. One berth = one berth. Cabin manifest is the contract. Sole-occupancy is a paid option, never a workaround.

Sources for category claims: published competitor homepages + their public Trustpilot review threads (April 2026). We'd rather show the comparison than make a softer claim.
